Description

‘Korine’ – Quirky aesthetics meet exciting fights and creative puzzles.

‘Korine’ is an action-adventure in which the player solves puzzles and fights enemies and their own fear with the help of hobby-related hats possessing mystical powers. The current demo, for example, includes the Tea Drinker’s Hat which shoots burning hot projectiles melting both ice and enemies.

The story will revolve around quirky interactions with an alien, a talking scarecrow, and villagers that ignore the impending end of the world to pursue their hobbies. The anxious protagonist, Korine, meanwhile struggles with their fears and their responsibility to save the world.

The game tries to balance diverse gameplay, a unique and quirky setting, and the current more than ever relevant topic of mental health in stressful times. To give players of all genders and gender expressions the opportunity to identify with Korine their design is kept androgynous and they are officially referred to by they/them pronouns while leaving it open to players to call them by the pronouns they identify/feel comfortable with.

Liquid Squirrel

Liquid Squirrel is a team of five Hamburg-based game design students that found together in 2020 with the goal to make inclusive games addressing important issues close to their hearts while still appealing to a broad audience.
